Plants are living things that make their own food using sunlight. In this lesson you will learn the parts of a plant, how plants make food through photosynthesis, and the life cycle of a plant.
植物是利用陽光自行製造食物的生物。在這一課，你會學習植物的各部分、植物怎樣透過光合作用製造食物，以及植物的生命週期。
1 · Parts of a plant

- Roots — take in water from the soil.根——從泥土吸收水分。
- Stem — carries water up to the leaves.莖——把水向上輸送到葉子。
- Leaves — make food using sunlight.葉子——利用陽光製造食物。
- Flower — makes seeds.花——結出種子。
2 · Photosynthesis
光合作用
Photosynthesis is how plants make food. Leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air and water from the roots. Using sunlight, they turn these into sugar called glucose and release oxygen.
光合作用是植物製造食物的方式。葉子從空氣吸收二氧化碳，並從根部獲得水。利用陽光，它們把這些變成葡萄糖，並釋放氧氣。
The green colour of plants comes from chlorophyll, which captures sunlight for photosynthesis.
植物的綠色來自葉綠素，它捕捉陽光來進行光合作用。
3 · Plant life cycle
植物的生命週期
A plant's life cycle starts with a seed. The seed germinates and grows a root and a shoot. The plant grows leaves and flowers. The flower makes new seeds, and the cycle starts again.
植物的生命週期由種子開始。種子發芽，長出根和芽。植物長出葉子和花。花結出新種子，週期重新開始。
- Seed → root and shoot.種子 → 長出根和芽。
- Shoot grows leaves.芽長出葉子。
