1 · What is a decimal?

甚麼是小數？

A decimal is a number with a decimal point. The first digit after the point shows tenths, and the second shows hundredths. 0.5 means 5 tenths, which is the same as one half.

小數是帶有小數點的數字。小數點後第一個位是「十分位」，第二個位是「百分位」。0.5 代表十分之五，即二分之一。

A percentage means out of 100. 50% means 50 out of 100, which is one half. The symbol is the percent sign (%).

百分數是指每一百之中有多少。50% 是指 100 中有 50，即一半。符號是百分號（%）。

Fractions, decimals and percentages can show the same amount:
